It's the first time she's really been old enough to specifically request a particular costume, and it's good timing, because it's also the first time that I have had a working sewing machine with which to make said costume.

I'm really happy with how it came out. The yoke was hand-stitched on to a plain white sweatshirt, then embroidered with yellow yarn. Then I sewed on the fake button placket made from an old T-shirt. The cuffs were machine sewn separately, then stitched at the top edge only so they would cover the regular sweatshirt cuff. The collar is a polo shirt worn under the sweatshirt. Overall, it's pretty much perfect, and Kit told me I'm the greatest mom in the whole world. (See, this is reason #1 why home-made costumes are the best costumes.)
